About Us
Action for Inclusion and Empowerment Trust (AIET) is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to creating an inclusive society where persons with disabilities, especially women and children, can live with dignity, independence, and equal opportunities. Based in Kokrajhar, Assam, we work to address the barriers faced by marginalized groups and empower them through education, livelihood, health, rights, and sustainable solutions.
Our Vision
To build an inclusive and just society where persons with disabilities, women, and children have equal access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making, enabling them to live with dignity and independence.
Our Mission
To work towards inclusive society and ensuring the rights of person with disability and women to live a life free from equality, violence and discrimination.
Our Approach
We combine grassroots action with strategic advocacy:
- Community Engagement
- Capacity Building
- Partnerships
- Evidence-Based Action and influence policy.
Our Focus Areas
01.
Livelihood & Skill Development
We equip persons with disabilities particularly women with skills and vocational training that help them earn a sustainable income. From mushroom cultivation and tailoring to small-scale enterprises, AIET provides both technical training and market linkages.
02.
Education & Inclusive Schools
We believe education is the foundation of empowerment. AIET has introduced inclusive education methodologies in government schools, adopted model schools to ensure children with and without disabilities learn together, and supports parents in accessing quality education for their children with disabilities.
03.
Health & Wellbeing
Health is a right, not a privilege. AIET organizes medical camps, supports disability assessments, and connects individuals to essential healthcare services. Over the years, more than 500 persons with disabilities have received disability certificates and pensions through our intervention, ensuring long-term social security and recognition of their rights.
04.
Women’s Empowerment
AIET has formed self-help groups (SHGs) and block-level associations for women with disabilities, helping them build solidarity, access entitlements, and advocate for their rights. We work closely with women in distress and survivors of violence, enabling them to rebuild their lives with confidence and independence.
05.
Decentralized Renewable Energy Solutions
Access to energy can transform lives. Through our partnership with organizations like SELCO Foundation, AIET provides solar-powered livelihood solutions such as loom lighting, tailoring machines, and spinning units. These innovations reduce drudgery, improve productivity, and create sustainable opportunities for persons with disabilities.
06.
Advocacy & Rights
We actively mobilize communities, conduct awareness programs, and engage with government bodies to ensure that persons with disabilities and women in distress have access to their rights and entitlements.
